Our DEI Mission

To foster, cultivate, and preserve a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Maxwell Locke & Ritter.

Our DEI Vision

To support Maxwell Locke & Ritter’s vision to be a great place to work by embracing our people’s differences in race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family or marital status, physical and mental ability, religion, age, and other characteristics that make our people unique.

Since the beginning of this initiative, it was important for us to specifically define what diversity, equity, and inclusion means here at Maxwell Locke & Ritter:

DIVERSITY

Diversity includes all the ways in which people differ, encompassing the unique characteristics that make one individual or group different from another. An all-inclusive view of diversity includes not only race, ethnicity, and gender — characteristics commonly associated with the term “diversity” — but also age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, education, marital status, language, physical appearance, and the varying ideas, perspectives, and values that make each individual unique.

EQUITY

Equity is the fair provisioning of treatment, access, justice, and opportunity. Equity focuses on providing resources that are most appropriate for a given group, recognizing their varying challenges, needs, and histories. Equity is distinct from diversity, which can simply mean variety. Equity is also distinct from equality, or “same treatment,” which doesn’t take differing needs or disparate outcomes into account. Systemic equity involves a robust system of dynamic processes consciously designed to create, support, and sustain social justice.

INCLUSION

Inclusion is the act of creating environments in which an individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected, supported, valued, and invited to fully participate. Inclusion is not an inherent result of quantitative representation and diversity, but of the intentional creation of an inclusive climate that embraces authentic and empowered participation, with a true sense of belonging and full access to opportunities.
