What You’ll Be Doing

As a key member of our tax and support teams, you’ll be assisting with various administrative duties, helping to support our tax team members as they help clients navigate their tax compliance requirements. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Overtime may be required during peak periods.

  • Provide support to the tax department
  • Quality control of tax automation software (SurePrep) process
  • Organize, scan, and reproduce documents
  • Manage electronic and paper workflow
  • Draft documents working in Microsoft and industry-specific software programs
  • Enter and maintain database information
  • Participate in tax team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvement
  • Coordinate, organize, and filter client tax data to facilitate accurate and timely completion of individual and entity income tax returns
  • Handle basic data entry in tax software, such as extensions and estimated tax vouchers
  • Assist professional staff with phone calls to taxing authorities
  • Assist with client billing process
  • Other tasks as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • Must be able to work in-office in Downtown Austin at least 4 days per week with the option to work the remaining day remotely
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (in roles such as administrative assistant, executive assistant, office coordinator, office administrator, office manager and/or registrar)
  • Associate’s degree; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred and may replace some of the work experience required for an excellent and otherwise qualified candidate
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience learning a new software
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently
  • Must have the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and thoroughness to monitor own work to ensure quality
  • Must be comfortable with and able to learn new technology
  • Must have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and present a professional image both in person and over the phone
  • Must be organized and have the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with various tax forms (1099s, W-2s, K-1s, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Access
  • Prior experience working in an accounting firm or other professional services firm is a plus
