This role will also support various administrative duties.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the tax department
  • Coordinate, organize, and filter client tax data to facilitate accurate and timely completion of individual and entity income tax returns
  • Electronic file cleanup and organization of tax returns for delivery to clients
  • Draft response letters for notices received from taxing authorities
  • Draft other documents and correspondence as requested by tax team
  • Assist with engagement letters, client information requests, and processing and organization of client provided information
  • Handle basic data entry in tax software, such as extensions and estimated tax vouchers
  • Interact with clients on behalf of professional staff and partners, including information exchange and scheduling meetings
  • Assist professional staff with phone calls to taxing authorities
  • Organize, scan, and reproduce documents
  • Manage electronic and paper workflow
  • Enter and maintain database information
  • Assist with client billing process
  • Assist with administration of Internal Revenue Service e-filing process
  • Assist the tax processing team with any and all tax processing tasks as needed, especially during peak busy times
  • Participate in tax team meetings and contribute to ongoing process improvement
  • Other tasks as assigned

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide general support to the firm
  • Occasional coverage of front desk, including answering the phone, and welcoming, engaging, and directing visitors
  • Occasional support for the audit department or other firm departments
  • Overall willingness to be a team player and contribute to the firm’s success in any support capacity

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work in-office in Round Rock, Texas
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Must have at least an associate’s degree; however, a bachelor’s degree may replace some or all of the work experience required for an excellent and otherwise qualified candidate
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must have the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and to apply knowledge learned to new situations
  • Must be comfortable with and able to learn new technology
  • Must have excellent written communication skills including strong spelling and grammar
  • Must have excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills and present a professional image both in person and over the phone
  • Must be organized and have the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior experience working in an accounting firm or other professional services firm is a plus
  • Prior experience with income tax return filings is a plus
