Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP, the largest locally owned and managed accounting firm in the greater Austin area, is seeking a relationship-driven self-starter to lead the firm’s business development efforts.

The firm’s business development manager is responsible for amplifying and building upon the firm’s existing market presence, building and sustaining relationships with new and existing centers of influence, identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, and organizing the proposal process.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the firm’s business and relationship development efforts in collaboration with ML&R leadership and associates
  • Build and sustain relationships with new and existing centers of influence
  • Identify, qualify and help close new business opportunities
  • Proactively reach out to potential sales leads
  • Follow up on incoming sales leads
  • Manage and leverage firm’s CRM system
  • Organize and facilitate the proposal process
  • Participate in internal client and networking events, assisting in coordination as appropriate
  • Attend external networking events (once COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted)
  • Build upon firm’s existing business development approach, refining existing processes and implementing new processes as appropriate
  • Facilitate and cultivate a culture of business development within the firm

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a relationship-driven role (business development, sales, banking, marketing, community relations, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or related field
  • Exceptional communication and project management skills
  • Ability to strategically and positively influence and lead a team to accomplish desired results
  • Strong business acumen with an ability to understand and communicate ML&R’s business, marketplace and value proposition
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous business development experience is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Previous experience at CPA or professional services firm is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Client relationship management (CRM) experience, preferably Salesforce
  • Experience with video and audio conferencing software
