Maxwell Locke & Ritter was founded 18 years ago …and that’s how long we’ve supported Junior Achievement. JA is a partnership between business, educators and community – all working together to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential. Their focus on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness, makes the match with our firm a natural! This year, we fielded two teams in the annual bowl-a-thon. We didn’t score particularly high, but won hands-down for decorations, costumes and enthusiasm, as you can see from the pictures from the event!
ML&R and the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure

Maxwell Locke & Ritter was a sponsor of the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure on May 30 - 31, and our own Sarah Kircher served on the Planning Committee for the event. It is a 2 day bike ride from San Antonio to Austin to raise funds to help with the ADA’s mission – to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. The event had a little over 1,700 registered cyclists, and as of the ride, the ADA had raised over half a million dollars.
ML&R makes dinner for the residents of the Ronald McDonald House

On May 5th, a group of ML&R employees got together to make a home-cooked meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House while their child is in the hospital. Our firm has been a long-time supporter of the Ronald McDonald House, and the group had a wonderful time participating in this event!
CPAs COUNT - in India

Two of our tax accountants were featured in the May edition of the Austin Chapter TSCPA E-News. Shannon Perry and Kristy Holmes took their "CPAs COUNT" shirt and took a photo while on a trip to Coimbatore, India.
Asthma Walk for the American Lung Association 2009

Maxwell Locke & Ritter had a team who participated in the American Lung Association's Asthma Walk on april 25, 2009. The ALA is a great organization that impacts our local community, and our ML&R team raised over $3,000 for this event!
Western Day at ML&R

As sponsors of the Star of Texas Rodeo Gala, we decided to have a Western Day at work to celebrate rodeo season. Our folks dusted off their boots and brought a little yeehaw with them to the office, making for a great picture and a ton of fun.
Kyle Parks wins and Stuart Vick Smith finalist for Austin Under 40 Award

We wanted to celebrate the fact that 2 of our partners were nominated for the Austin Under 40 Award. Stuart Vick Smith was a finalist in the "Financial Services" category, and Kyle Parks won the "Business & Entrepreneurship" category.
The event, hosted by the Young Women's Alliance and the Young Men's Business League, recognized their peers under the age of 40 who have achieved extraordinary professional success while simulatneously demonstrating oustanding community service.

Austin, TX (Mon. February 2, 2009) – Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP has named three new partners of the firm – David Bender, Rob Repass and Kristen Wicke.
The new partners are:
David Bender has been promoted to partner and serves as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. David joined Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP in 2000 and is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience in public accounting.
Kristen Wicke has been promoted to audit partner and is focused on providing audit services to non-profit entities such as arts and cultural organizations, member and trade associations, and social service organizations. Kristen has been with the firm since 2005.
Rob Repass has been admitted as a partner with Maxwell Locke and Ritter. Rob’s experience includes serving as the Chief Financial Officer for Motion Computing, as an investment partner with TL Ventures in its Austin office and as Managing Partner for the Austin office and Head of the Southwest Region Technology Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

NEW BIOGRAPHIES
David Bender is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience in public accounting. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received his BBA with honors and his MPA. David joined Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP in 2000 as an Audit Associate. David serves as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. Previously David was a Senior Audit Associate with the Austin practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Prior to his career in public accounting he owned and managed a landscape irrigation business. David’s community service is focused on expanding access to higher education and training in Central Texas. He is on the board of directors of the Austin Community College Foundation. Previously he served as the Treasurer for Reading Is Fundamental of Austin. David enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, entertaining friends and family in his home, and summer trips to the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
Kristen Wicke is a Certified Public Accountant who attended the University of Texas at Austin Professional Program in Accounting through which she received both her BBA in Accounting and MPA in 1996. Throughout her career, Kristen has been focused on serving non-profit organizations, either as an auditor or financial manager. These experiences have enabled her to understand the internal day-to-day workings of non-profits and develop a greater understanding of the issues faced by her clients. Kristen joined Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP in 2005 where she has continued achieving her professional goal of serving non-profits by providing high quality audit services. Kristen serves on the Board of Directors of Greenlights for Nonprofit Success and the Heritage Society of Austin. Outside of work, she enjoys yoga and dancing to live music.
Rob Repass is a Certified Public Accountant who graduated from Virginia Tech in 1982. Rob was admitted as a partner with Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP in 2009. His prior experience includes serving as Senior Vice President and CFO of Motion Computing, Inc., as a partner with TL Ventures, a premiere venture capital investment firm with a focus on funding early stage technology companies; as Managing Partner of the Austin office and Head of the Southwest Region Technology Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers and spent several years as the CFO of Ross Technologies, Inc. Rob lives in Austin with his wife, Jennifer, and two children and enjoys golfing, running, biking and snow skiing and doing just about anything with good friends and family.
