Wellness

At Maxwell Locke & Ritter we know that an active lifestyle, along with healthy behaviors and positive attitudes, will help lead each individual to his/her highest potential – physically, intellectually, and spiritually. The leadership at Maxwell Locke & Ritter supports wellness with time, money and energy. Over the years our wellness activities have become so numerous that we established a Wellness Team to coordinate the wide variety of efforts. We survey our people regularly to monitor the wellness of our associates and we offer coaching and mentoring opportunities.

Intellectual wellness is fostered by providing firm sponsored, accredited training opportunities for professional and personal growth. The firm hosts a brown-bag book club so that folks can gather to discuss literature and social issues and take an intellectual break from the day to day grind of accounting. This intellectual "breather" leaves associates refreshed and ready to get back to work in a good frame of mind.

Physical wellness is fostered by providing many programs to encourage physical fitness. Some of our physical wellness initiatives are subsidized gym memberships, health assessments, flu shots, on-site yoga classes, busy season chair massages, health benefits package including medical & dental insurance, short and long-term leave, generous paid time off which can be used for physical or mental health, firm-sponsored sport teams, free healthy snacks and drinks in the break room, healthy food choices at all firm-sponsored events, the opportunity to participate in community efforts including fund-raising walks, runs, marathons, etc. We have hosted speakers on stress-reduction, ergonomics, nutrition and other health topics. We provide a variety of ergonomic accessories designed to reduce physical and mental stress in the office setting. We host training on CPR and First Aid. At any time during the year there are a number of internal weight-loss and fitness competitions, where the firm provides incentives in the form of prizes and community donations.

Spiritual wellness is often a bi-product of the other wellness initiatives. We have learned that caring for every individual fosters a community of people who care about one another and feel good about who they are and what they do. In addition to a healthy culture and spirit, the firm provides privacy rooms for its associates to use as they deem necessary and we have a dedicated interfaith Wellness Room that was specifically designed to create an environment conducive to meditation and reflection.

All of our initiatives, whether for mind, body or spirit, work together to foster a healthy work environment that we hope exceeds the corporate standard. Maxwell Locke & Ritter is sincerely committed to the wellness of our people and by extension, the benefits extend to our families and the community.
