Tom R. Locke

Tom R. Locke
B.B.A., 1963
Partner

Tom Locke has been a trusted financial counselor to entrepreneurs, their companies and their families for 40 years. He has helped successful Texas business owners pass their businesses on to succeeding generations, growing through mergers and offering securities to the public. Whatever the strategy, the objective remained the same; to create and preserve wealth in a framework that supports a family’s values and enhances its opportunities.

When he graduated from the University of Texas in 1961, Tom served the financial need of independent oil producers, the “wildcatters” who struggled and found success in an earlier Texas economy. While times have changed, today’s newly successful entrepreneurs find themselves facing challenges similar to those earlier wealth creators; how to avoid or reduce taxation, diversify investments, make provisions for loved ones and plan for the future.

These issues often are formidable, especially to someone confronting them for the first time, but Tom’s approach is to gather complicated financial information and present it in a way that is usable and understandable. Then, offering advice based on his experience, he assists in formulating and implementing sound investment policies.

In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Tom is a Registered Investment Advisor representative. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also an elder for his church. For fun, Tom “enjoys the music scene as the father of a musician”. His son Tim is a Metroplex-based singer/composer.

Years of parenting and grandparenting viewed from a biblical standpoint have led Tom to support the firm’s initiatives of family first, the exploration of spirituality, and the expression of ethics in the workplace. He says, “Maxwell Locke & Ritter’s core values, the essence of which are our responsibilities to God and each other, center on what is truly important and enduring.”
