Scott Krchnak, CPA
B.B.A., 1988
Partner
Scott grew up in Giddings, a small town about 60 miles east of Austin. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting in 1988 from Southwest Texas State University. After graduation, Scott moved to Houston to work at Arthur Andersen & Company and married Pam Sharp in 1989. When Scott and Pam both had opportunities to transfer back to Austin in 1991, the decision was an easy one. Scott continued his public accounting career in Austin and joined Maxwell Locke & Ritter in 1994.
Since Scott and Pam are both graduates of Giddings High School and still have family in the area, they moved back to Giddings in 1995. The move back to their hometown has allowed them to raise their children in a small town and allow their children to spend as much time as possible with grandparents. With their strong family orientation, Scott and Pam appreciate and value the family atmosphere at Maxwell Locke & Ritter.
Scott excels at researching complex accounting issues and presenting the answers to clients in non-accounting language. As a business consultant with a background in auditing, Scott helps clients such as Texas Methodist Foundation, Round Rock Independent School District, The Ex-Students Association of The University of Texas, and others with their overall financial reporting and financial statement presentations. He is the designated firm non-profit and governmental expert, and has outstanding skills in auditing, and the implementation of recently issued accounting pronouncements and auditing standards. He also helps clients identify business opportunities by establishing on-going, two-way communication and has provided assistance to a number of non-profit boards. Scott particularly enjoys the communication with clients and finds it rewarding to help them find positive business solutions. He tries to establish a relationship of trust so that clients feel comfortable calling him with any and all questions.
Scott says that he genuinely likes being around all of the staff members at Maxwell Locke & Ritter - both professionally and socially. “I have put in lots of hours for other firms just as I have here. The difference is the hours do not seem nearly as long when working with my friends and associates at Maxwell Locke & Ritter because of the mutual respect everyone holds for each other.”
