Mike received his Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic
State University, San Luis Obispo in 1992. After a few years in
the Palo Alto, CA office, he joined Ernst & Young’s Austin
office in 1995, where he specialized in tax issues for the software,
semiconductor, biotechnology, and manufacturing industries. He developed
specialized experience in addressing tax compliance requirements of companies
ranging from startup to multinational Fortune 500, in addition to FAS109
reporting, effects of foreign operations, post-merger accounting assistance,
and specific issues of technology companies. Some of his notable
clients included Pervasive Software, Vignette, Motive, Silicon Laboratories,
Staktek, Active Power, NetSolve, Luminex, Cell Genesys, and MicroMed
Cardiovascular.
Mike joined Maxwell Locke & Ritter LLP in April 2005. He has
in-depth experience in tax operations matters, such as federal and multi-state
income & franchise tax compliance, adoption and changes of methods
of accounting, taxing authority examination assistance, reporting and
tax attribute analyses of mergers and acquisitions, U.S. tax aspects of
doing business abroad, and specialized credit computations. He has
assisted several businesses in entity selection, and consulted on numerous
mergers, acquisitions, and dissolutions. He is a member of both the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified
Public Accountants.
Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and children, bird hunting, hiking,
and water/snow skiing.
