Fred Frey, CPA, CFP – B.A., 1988 & M.S., 1995, Partner
As a Registered Investment Advisor representative, a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner, Fred concentrates on the Firm’s wealth management practice. He assists clients in the preparation of investment strategies and portfolio management. Fred sees his role as his clients’ chief financial officer - someone who can view their financial situation with the discipline and perspective needed to help them make smart decisions about the management of their wealth and free them from “money worries” so they can turn their attention to the things they truly enjoy doing.
Fred grew up in New Orleans and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. After college, he served for five years as a Navy Bombardier/Navigator. During his military service he flew the A-6 “Intruder” in Operation Desert Storm. Upon returning to civilian life, he attended graduate school at Old Dominion University at Norfolk , Virginia , where he received a Master of Science degree in Accounting. In 1995, Fred joined Maxwell Locke & Ritter.
Fred’s client work is concentrated in ML&R Wealth Management LLC, where he says, “I see my relationship with clients as one of a financial partner, someone who can provide a disciplined and unique perspective to their financial situation, thus better enabling them to realize their personal life goals.” Fred has passed the National Association of Securities Dealers’ General Securities Registered Representative (Series 7) Exam; and the Uniform Securities Agent State Law (Series 63) Exam.
Fred believes that at Maxwell Locke & Ritter, “you really do have the opportunity, on a daily basis, to make a difference and effect change both inside and outside the firm.” He stresses that the key to the firm’s success is “the people....without a doubt, they are the most knowledgeable, energetic and caring group of people I have ever been involved with.”
